The watch was created for only one purpose - for a competition between New York banker Mr. Graves and Ohio automobile engineer, Mr. James Ward Packard. Mr. Henry Graves wanted to beat down his competitor, Mr. Packard who has, at the time, the most complicated watch known.

For the competition, Patek Pilippe created the Supercomplication watch with the most complications in the world. The watch has a super complicated functions and working mechanism, with the 24 separate complications.
The job was well done and New York banker, Henry Graves won the contest!

The watch has been created with 24 carat yellow gold, has a 74 mm thick diameter, 36 mm glass cover and 2 faces which display the 24 complications of the timepiece.

This expensive watch features three heart-shaped diamonds, the pink weighs 15 carats, the blue weighs 12 carats and the white weighs 11 carats. They are set in a bracelet encrusted with clusters of white pear-shaped diamonds arrange in flower motifs, with a yellow diamond standing up from the center of each. Total carat weight of the white and yellow diamonds is 163 carats, while the total carat weight of the watch is 201 carats. The watch has a spring-loaded mechanism which, when pressed, allows the three heart shapes to mechanically open up, much the way the petals of a flower will in the sunshine. The watch face is exposed from underneath the heart-shaped diamonds.
